Quick answers

Managing Website Pages

Creating a page

Create → Website → Pages → New page. Give it a title; the slug becomes its address, for example /about.

Slugs

Lowercase letters and hyphens, short and descriptive.

Page settings

Each page has SEO settings for its title and description.

Navigation

Move pages up and down in the navigation from the Pages list. The header editor's navigation manager sets menu items and links.

Templates

Export → Save to My Templates keeps a page's layout for reuse; Import template starts a page from one.

Deleting

Delete from the Pages list. The homepage stays.

SEO Basics

Site defaults

Create → Website → Site Settings → SEO Defaults: the site description and the defaults every page starts from.

Per page

Open a page in the builder and use its SEO settings for the title and description search engines show.

Writing them

Titles under sixty characters with the topic first and your name last. Descriptions under 160 characters that say what the page offers. Slugs short, lowercase, hyphenated.

Speed

Gadura serves your site through a global network and optimises images for you.

How do I edit my homepage?

  1. Go to Create → Website → Pages and open the homepage.
  2. Click any text to edit it.
  3. Add a block from the palette on the left; click a block to change its settings on the right; move blocks up or down.
  4. Publish when you are happy. Preview shows it first.

A homepage that works

One clear headline that says who you help, a photo of you, proof, and a single next step.

Using the Website Builder

The three areas

The block palette on the left, your page in the centre, and the settings of the selected block on the right. Undo and redo sit in the header.

Adding and arranging

Add a block from the palette, click it to edit, move it up or down, duplicate or delete it.

Text and links

Click text to edit it in place. Select text to make it bold or italic, or to add a link.

Images

Up to 10 MB each, with alt text.

Header

The Header panel sets the site name, tagline, logo, colours, layout, a Log in link for members, and whether the header stays at the top or is see-through. Menu, inside it, holds your links and an optional header button.

Publishing

Publish to make changes live. Preview to check first.

Why isn't my page showing up?

  1. Not published. Open the page and publish it. If the whole site is unpublished, publish the site from the Website page.
  2. Not in the menu. Move it into the navigation from the Pages list or the header's navigation manager. A page can still be reached by its address.
  3. Wrong address. Check the slug in the page's settings.
  4. Cached. Refresh hard or open a private window.
  5. Domain still connecting. Check the domain's status under Site Settings → Domain.

Custom Domains

Use your own domain instead of your gadura.site subdomain. Available on every plan.

Connecting

  1. Go to Website → Settings.
  2. In the Domain box, type the domain, with or without www, and press Connect. A new connection uses the www address.
  3. Add the records Gadura shows at your domain provider: a CNAME for www pointing to fallback.gadura.link, and an A record for @ with the value 76.76.21.21.
  4. Gadura checks on its own. Once connected, HTTPS is set up for you.

The address without www

The A record for @ sends every page of yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com, the rest of the address included. It works the same at every provider. If the domain is forwarded at your provider, remove that forwarding first.

Checking

Check again asks Gadura to look now. Remove returns the site to your gadura.site address.

Customising Individual Block Colours

Every block follows your site's colours unless you give it its own.

Overriding

Open the block, go to Visuals → Colours, and open the row for the part you want to change, such as cards, badges, buttons, boxes or words. Pick a colour and the row says Your own. A row that paints nothing in the block's current style is hidden or says so.

Returning

Open the row and press Back to theme colour. That part follows the site again.

Use it sparingly

A sale banner or a highlighted pricing tier earns a colour of its own. Everything else reads better in the site's colours.

Lead Capture and Forms

The blocks

  • Newsletter: an email field.
  • Opt-in: email and name, for lead magnets.
  • Form: your own fields, with conditional logic, for enquiries and applications.
  • Popup: a form in a modal.

Settings

Fields, button text, what happens after submitting (a message, a redirect, or a file download), and colours.

Where submissions go

Into Audience → Contacts with the page's tag, into Insights → Analytics → Form Analytics, and into any Trigger or Automation that starts on a form submission.

Good practice

Above the fold, short, one clear promise, and a welcome series behind it.

Why aren't my brand colours showing on my live site?

  1. The site keeps other colours. Open Create → Website → Customise → Colours. If the site uses this theme's colours or its own colours, a brand change leaves it alone. Choose Follow my brand.
  2. A block has its own colour. A colour picked by hand on a block always wins. Open the block, go to Visuals → Colours, and look for a row that says Your own. Open it and press Back to theme colour.
  3. The site is not published. Visitors see a holding page until you publish it from Create → Website.
  4. An old copy in your browser. Open the site in a private window to see the live version.

Why does my site show the wrong name?

The header

The site name and tagline come from the header editor in the builder.

The browser tab

Each page's SEO title, else the site defaults under Site Settings → SEO Defaults.

Elsewhere

Your display name in Settings → General appears on emails and in the journal.

Change them in those places, publish, and refresh hard. Search engines take a while to catch up.

My page shows "content is still being added"

A visitor sees this when a page exists but has no published content: it was never published, or its blocks are empty.

  1. Go to Create → Website → Pages and open the page.
  2. Add blocks if it is empty, or replace a theme's placeholder text with your own.
  3. Publish.

My site isn't loading or shows errors

Quick checks

Is the site published? Is the address right? Does a private window behave the same?

Messages

  • Not found: the site is unpublished, the address is wrong, or the custom domain is not connected yet.
  • Blank page: refresh hard and try again in a moment.
  • This site can't be reached: the custom domain's DNS is not in place. Check the records and the domain's status under Site Settings → Domain.

Changes not showing

Publish again and refresh hard.

Still broken
