Journal & Blog

Customise your blog and podcast pages

Quick answers

Creating Blog Posts

Writing a post

  1. Go to Create → Blog & Podcast and choose New Post.
  2. Write the headline and the post. The editor gives you headings, bold and italic, lists, quotes, code, tables, highlights, links, images and galleries, and embeds for YouTube and tweets.
  3. Add a cover image and an excerpt, and choose a category.
  4. Set the status to Published, or leave it as a draft.

Reads

Each post shows how many times it has been read.

Comments

Turn comments on or off per post, and choose whether they need your approval.

New post emails

Email Studio → New post emails can send each new post to your subscribers automatically.

Writing for search

A clear headline, headings that structure the piece, links to your other posts, and alt text on images.

Setting Your Journal Title and Display Name

The journal title

Create → Blog & Podcast → Settings holds the journal's title and description. The title appears in the browser tab, in search results and when a post is shared.

Your display name

Settings → General holds your display name, used across Gadura: on emails, on your creator card, and as the author of your posts.

What shows where

  • Journal pages: the journal title.
  • A post: the post's title, then the journal title.

Keep titles short; browser tabs cut long ones off.

Adding Newsletter Signup to Your Journal

Journal pages carry a newsletter signup. When someone subscribes they become a contact tagged Newsletter, and any Trigger or Automation for new subscribers runs.

Customising it

Create → Blog & Podcast → Settings → Newsletter Signup: show or hide it, the title, the body text, and the button text.

Finding subscribers

Audience → Contacts, filtered by the Newsletter tag.

Sending them your posts

Email Studio → New post emails sends each new post to them automatically.

Starting a Podcast

Your podcast lives beside your journal: Create → Blog & Podcast, Episodes.

Setting up the show

Settings → Podcast Info: title, author or host, description, category, language, content rating, contact email, and cover art between 1400 and 3000 pixels square in JPG or PNG.

Publishing episodes

New Episode: title, description, the audio file (MP3, M4A or WAV up to 500 MB), an optional episode cover, show notes in Markdown, guests and co-hosts, and whether the episode contains explicit content. Publish when ready.

Distribution

Settings → Podcast Distribution shows your RSS feed address and how to submit it. Submit it once to Apple Podcasts and Spotify; new episodes then appear on their own.

Transcripts

Add a transcript to an episode, typed or generated with Transcribe. Generated transcription counts against your plan's transcription minutes.

How do I customise my journal header?

Create → Blog & Podcast → Settings.

Logo and branding

Upload a logo, or show your journal title as text.

Navigation links

Add links with a label and an address, to your pages or elsewhere, and reorder or remove them. Only the links you add appear.

Social links

Add your social addresses; they show as icons in the header. Leave one blank to hide it.

How do I change my journal's button and accent colours?

Create → Blog & Podcast → Settings.

Quick presets

Choose a preset to apply a palette in one step.

Custom colours

Set the Button Color for primary buttons such as Subscribe, and the Accent Color for links and highlights. Enter a hex value or pick visually.

Button style

Solid, soft or outline.

Preview shows the result on desktop and mobile before you save.

Share buttons on posts

Every post carries a share bar: share on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, copy the link, and print. The bar is the same on every post and is not customised per post.

How do I customise my newsletter signup form?

Create → Blog & Podcast → Settings → Newsletter Signup.

  • Show: on or off.
  • Title: for example "Join the journal".
  • Body: what readers will receive and how often.
  • Button text: "Subscribe", "Join free".

Subscribers become contacts tagged Newsletter in Audience → Contacts.

How do I write and publish a blog post?

  1. Create → Blog & Podcast → New Post.
  2. Write the headline and the post. Headings, lists, quotes, code, tables, images, galleries, and YouTube or tweet embeds are all in the editor.
  3. Add a cover image and an excerpt; choose a category.
  4. Set the status to Published. Drafts stay private until then.

Your post lives at your site's journal address under its own slug.

How do I create a podcast episode?

  1. Create → Blog & Podcast → Episodes → New Episode.
  2. Title and description.
  3. Upload the audio: MP3, M4A or WAV up to 500 MB.
  4. Optional episode cover; otherwise the podcast cover is used.
  5. Show notes in Markdown, guests and co-hosts, and the explicit-content mark if needed.
  6. Publish. Published episodes appear in your RSS feed and reach the platforms you submitted it to.

How do I add a transcript to a podcast episode?

Open the episode and find Transcript. Paste your own, or choose Transcribe to generate one from the audio. Generated transcription uses your plan's transcription minutes.

Clear audio, a good microphone and a moderate pace make for a cleaner transcript. Review it before publishing.

How do I moderate comments on my blog?

Settings

Comments are switched on or off per post with Enable comments, and Require approval holds each new comment until you approve it.

The comments page

Create → Blog & Podcast → Comments lists comments across your posts. Approve what belongs, remove what does not, and reply to readers.

Habits

Check pending comments regularly, reply to thoughtful ones, and remove spam promptly.

How do I distribute my podcast to Apple Podcasts and Spotify?

Your RSS feed

Create → Blog & Podcast → Settings → Podcast Distribution shows your feed address and its status.

Before submitting

At least one published episode, cover art between 1400 and 3000 pixels square, a title, description, category and author.

Submitting

  • Apple Podcasts: podcastsconnect.apple.com, add a show with your feed address.
  • Spotify: podcasters.spotify.com, add your podcast with the feed address.

Other apps take the same feed. Once accepted, new episodes appear on their own; edit the show in Gadura, not on each platform.

How do I add images and galleries to my blog posts?

An image

Use Add Image in the editor, or drag an image into the post. Add alt text.

A gallery

Image Gallery takes several images and lays them out in a grid.

Sizes

Cover images around 1200 by 630 pixels share well. Keep in-post images under about 1600 pixels wide and compressed.

How do I embed videos in my blog posts?

Use Embed YouTube in the editor and paste the video's address. Embedded videos scale to your post's width and play on phones. Video is not uploaded to the journal; host it on YouTube and embed it.

How do I add guests or co-hosts to my podcast?

Open the episode and use Guests & Co-Hosts: a name, a role, and optionally a bio, photo and website. Add as many as the episode needs. Guests appear on the episode page.

How do I write effective podcast show notes?

Show notes are the episode's written companion, in the episode's Show Notes field, written in Markdown.

Include

  • A two- or three-sentence summary.
  • The main topics, with timestamps for long episodes.
  • Links and resources you mentioned.
  • Guests, with their links.
  • One call to action.

Write for people who scan: short lines, headings, lists. Good notes help the episode be found in search and in podcast apps.

Where can I see my blog subscribers?

Audience → Contacts, filtered by the Newsletter tag. Each record shows when they joined and what they have done since.

Export all downloads them as CSV. Readers unsubscribe through the link in any email; they then stay in your list marked unsubscribed and receive nothing further.
